Date Added: May 27, 2008 06:13:29 PM

The NAAG or the National Association of Attorney Generals is a group that was founded to help the all the Attorney Generals in their responsibilities in their offices. This organization was originally founded in 1907 and has being going strong ever since.

In 43 out of the 50 states, the Attorney General is elected by popularity. This means that the people vote on who should be the Attorney General of the state. Guam is also included in the popularity voting for Attorney General. The District of Columbia has the mayor appoint the Attorney General who has the same authority as the other state’s Attorney Generals. In Maine, a secret ballet by the legislature decides who the Attorney General is. The state Supreme Court of Tennessee helps to decide who the Attorney General will be. The other five states (Alaska, Hawaii, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Wyoming) have the governor appoint the Attorney General for the state.

The NAAG helps to make sure that the Attorney Generals of each state are taking care of all of their responsibilities. They also help to make sure that any news that might be needed is available to the Attorney Generals at any time. The NAAG also works to promote cooperation between the states and jurisdictions of the US. This organization also works to help people understand the law and exactly how it is being used in every day life. Although they started with just a few members, they have grown in numbers and are constantly working to raise overall awareness for all citizens.
